Milton Keynes Aiming for Top-10 City Status with New Chief

Milton Keynes Council has set ambitious plans for its new chief executive to take forward. The council announced it has appointed Carole Mills as its next chief executive and pledged to become a ‘top 10’ city within the next decade.

Ms Mill is currently deputy chief executive and corporate director for resources at Nottingham City Council where she also holds the chief finance officer role.

She will take over from David Hill, who is retiring having joined the council in April 2009.

A qualified accountant, Ms Mills has worked at Nottingham for six years and started her career in local government at Coventry City Council.

Council leader Andrew Geary (Con) said:

“She joins us at a very exciting time in a period of sustained improvement, bringing very solid local government credentials, as well as a sound business acumen to the organisation."

“Her experience as deputy chief executive at one of the country’s Core Cities will only further enhance Milton Keynes’ own ambitions to be in the top 10 and Premier League of UK cities in the next decade.”
