Norwich is a rapidly growing contemporary city that has retained its impressive medieval heritage. It is a major regional administrative, commercial and cultural centre with a regional catchment area of over 1,000,000 residents; 330,000 of whom live within the primary catchment. Approximately 8,000 businesses and 127,000 jobs are based in the city. Norwich International Airport is just a 15 minute drive from the city centre.

The city has key strengths in sectors which, in national terms, have generated the strongest growth in recent years - financial and business services, digital creative industries, high tech engineering (motorsports and aviation) and of course, health and life sciences at the world-renowned Norwich Research Park including the University of East Anglia.

Norwich is a dynamic financial city at the forefront of modern technology and a surprising number of web-based financial service companies such as Moneyfacts have made it their base, as well as world class financial companies.  It is also the largest general insurance centre in the UK.

The city has recognized strengths in the creative industries sector including a cluster of established businesses and a growing number of smaller digital companies, many of which are leaders in their fields. The sector is supported by the highly acclaimed Norwich University of the Arts.

Norwich is ranked the 13th best retail centre in the UK and classed as “thriving” by Colliers Research. The city centre offers a unique shopping experience; a large number of independent shops, high street names, two shopping centres and the oldest and largest 6-day open market in the country.
