WestQuay Watermark project

Southampton City Council's ongoing commitment to its current plan of economic growth is illustrated in Hammerson’s development of the WestQuay Watermark project. This is one of seven VIP's (Very Important Projects) and is part of city-wide investment. This impressive flythrough (View the live progress here) gives an idea of the size of the complex and of some of the big names that have secured some of the units. The Watermark development is being undertaken in two phases. The first of which consists of the construction of the £85m WestQuay Watermark complex. An entertainment and dining destination, Watermark will complement the WestQuay shopping centre with a landmark 10 screen National Amusements Showcase Cinema de Lux and Hollywood Bowl - the UK's leading ten-pin bowl operator.

There also a number of top end restaurant operators who have announced that they’ve secured units, including Wahaca, Byron, Five Guys, Zizzi, Nandos, Bill's Restaurant, Jamie's Italian, Cabana, COSMO, Cau, Red Dog Saloon, All Bar One, TGI Fridays and The Diner. Carluccio’s are also set to open an outlet in the existing WestQuay shopping centre dining floor.

83% of the Westquay Watermark units are now let, with the complex set to open in early December 2016. The development will receive £7m from the government's Regional Growth Fund to support the transformation of the public realm into a new and vibrant plaza.

The planned phase 2 and 3 of the development will include redevelopment of City Wall House and has potential to include a residential tower, hotel and additional public space.
